IN THE NAME OF ALLAH THE MOST GRACIOUS, THE MOST MERCIFUL
INTRODUCTION
Everyone of us is reminded by Allah to start our preparation for the Hereafter now:
يا أَيُّهَا الَّذينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَلتَنظُر نَفسٌ ما قَدَّمَت لِغَدٍ ۖ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ خَبيرٌ بِما تَعمَلونَ
“O you who believe! Fear Allah and keep your duty to Him. And let every person look to what he has sent forth for the morrow, and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is All-Aware of what you do.” 59: 18
Every effort must be made inshaAllah to invest in the Hereafter so that we are able to be prepared to face Allah with all these investments on the Day of Judgment.
3 sayings of Hasan Al Barsi:
Allah Reminded usin surah Qasas 28, verse 77:
“But seek, with that (wealth) which Allah has bestowed on you, the home of the Hereafter, and forget not your portion of legal enjoyment in this world, and do good as Allah has been good to you, and seek not mischief in the land. Verily, Allah likes not the Mufsidun (those who commit great crimes and sins, oppressors, tyrants, mischief-makers, corrupts).”
Everyone of us must worry if our investment in the Hereafter will benefit us in order to allow us entry into Paradise inshaAllah.
“And those who give that (their charity) which they give (and also do other good deeds) with their hearts full of fear (whether their alms and charities, etc., have been accepted or not), because they are sure to return to their Lord (for reckoning).” 23: 60
Imam Ahmad recorded from `A’ishah: I said: “O Messenger of Allah,
(And those who give that which they give with their hearts full of fear…) Are these the ones who steal and commit Zina and drink alcohol while fearing Allah” The Messenger of Allah replied:
(No, O daughter of Abu Bakr. O daughter of As-Siddiq, the one who prays, fast and gives in charity, fearing Allah.) This was recorded by At-Tirmidhi, and Ibn Abi Hatim recorded something similar in which the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
(No, O daughter of As-Siddiq, they are the ones who pray and fast and give in charity while fearing that it will not be accepted from them, (It is these who hasten in the good deeds.)) This is also how Ibn `Abbas, Muhammad bin Ka`b Al-Qurazi and Al-Hasan Al-Basri interpreted this Ayah.
Our investment in the Hereafter consists of the following:
HOW TO MANAGE THEM
Abu Hurairahra narrates that the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said, “The first thing for which a person will be brought to account on the Day of Judgement will be his Salat. If it is found to be complete, then it will be recorded as complete and if anything is lacking, He will say, ‘Look and see if you can find any voluntary prayers with which to complete what he neglected of his obligatory prayers.’ Then the rest of his deed will be reckoned in like manner.”
(Sunan al-Nasai, Kitab al-Salat, Hadith 466)
Therefore ensure that your prayer is as perfect as possible inshaAllah in terms of khushoo’, recitations, slow movements, etc
Do remember that it’s not just about doing prayer, as Allah Described who are the successful believers in the Qur’an surah 23 verses 1-2
“Successful indeed are the believers. Those who offer their Salat (prayers) with all solemnity and full submissiveness.”
So, it’s not just about the prayer but the prayer must be in khushoo’ (complete surrendering and focus on Allah).
Also, take special care of the middle prayer, as Allah Warned us in surah al Baqarah verse 238:
حافِظوا عَلَى الصَّلَواتِ وَالصَّلاةِ الوُسطىٰ وَقوموا لِلَّهِ قانِتينَ
“Guard strictly (five obligatory) As-Salawat (the prayers) especially the middle Salat (i.e. the best prayer – ‘Asr). And stand before Allah with obedience [and do not speak to others during the Salat (prayers)].”
What further proves this fact is that, in an authentic Hadith, Allah’s Messenger (Peace be upon him) emphasized the necessity of preserving the `Asr prayer, when he said, as Ibn `Umar narrated:
(Whoever misses the `Asr prayer will be like who has lost his family and money.)
It is reported in the Sahih that Buraydah bin Al-Husayb said that the Prophet (peace be upon him|) said:
(On a cloudy day, perform the (`Asr) prayer early, for whoever misses the `Asr prayer, will have his (good) deeds annulled.)
Good deeds are only accepted if we fulfil 3 conditions:
يا أَيُّهَا الَّذينَ آمَنوا إِن تَتَّقُوا اللَّهَ يَجعَل لَكُم فُرقانًا
“O you who believe! If you obey and fear Allah, He will grant you Furqan a criterion [(to judge between right and wrong)…”
“Verily! Allah forgives not (the sin of) setting up partners in worship with Him, but He forgives whom he pleases sins other than that, and whoever sets up partners in worship with Allah, has indeed strayed far away.” 4:116
“…Verily, As-Salat (the prayer) prevents from Al-Fahsha’ (i.e. great sins of every kind, unlawful sexual intercourse, etc.) and Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief, polytheism, and every kind of evil wicked deed, etc.) …” (29: 45)
“And indeed it has been revealed to you (O Muhammad SallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), as it was to those (Allah’s Messengers) before you: “If you join others in worship with Allah, (then) surely (all) your deeds will be in vain, and you will certainly be among the losers.” 39: 65
Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Do you know who is bankrupt?” They said, “The one without money or goods is bankrupt.” The Prophet said, “Verily, the bankrupt of my nation are those who come on the Day of Resurrection with prayers, fasting, and charity, but also with insults, slander, consuming wealth, shedding blood, and beating others. The oppressed will each be given from his good deeds. If his good deeds run out before justice is fulfilled, then their sins will be cast upon him and he will be thrown into the Hellfire.”

Abu Qatadah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The best of what a man leaves behind are three: a righteous child who supplicates for him, ongoing charity the reward of which reaches him, and knowledge that is acted upon after him.”

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (RadhiyAllahu ‘anhu) who said: The Messenger of Allah (SallaAllahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said,
“Verily Allah (Glorified may he be) has said: ‘Whosoever shows enmity to a wali (friend) of Mine, then I have declared war against him. And My servant does not draw near to Me with anything more beloved to Me than the religious duties I have obligated upon him. And My servant continues to draw near to me with nafil (supererogatory) deeds until I Love him. When I Love him, I become his hearing with which he hears, and his sight with which he sees, and his hand with which he strikes, and his foot with which he walks. Were he to ask [something] of Me, I would surely give it to him; and were he to seek refuge with Me, I would surely grant him refuge.’ ”
[Reported by Bukhari]
“…Verily, the most honourable of you with Allah is that (believer) who has At-Taqwa…”
ON ALL SECTIONS – MAKE DU’A TO ALLAH
May Allah Accept all of our investments in the Hereafter and Grant us all Jannatul Firdaus due to our efforts.
