IN THE NAME OF ALLAH THE MOST GRACIOUS, THE MOST MERCIFUL
“O you who believe! If you obey and fear Allah, He will grant you Furqan a criterion [(to judge between right and wrong), or (Makhraj, i.e. making a way for you to get out from every difficulty)],…” 8: 29
Allah Promised us Furqan but only when we have taqwa.
What does Furqan means?
Furqan means one’s ability to distinguish
The Qur’an itself is called Al Furqan because by reciting it and understanding it, one is able to do the above inshaAllah. But the ability to have Furqan itself comes only from Allah. Some people claimed they read the Qur’an many times, but are still committing shirk such as worshipping the grave, using taweez to protect himself, making du’a to prophet Muhammad (SallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam). So the Qur’an was not able to develop Furqan with Allah’s Will.
There are 5 other verses in the Qur’an that the word Furqan was used:
“Blessed be He Who sent down the criterion (of right and wrong, i.e. this Qur’an) to His slave (Muhammad SallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) that he may be a warner to the ‘Alamin (mankind and jinns).” 25: 1
“And (remember) when We gave Musa (Moses) the Scripture [the Taurat (Torah)] and the criterion (of right and wrong) so that you may be guided aright.” 2: 53
“…if you have believed in Allah and in that which We sent down to Our slave (Muhammad SallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) on the Day of criterion (between right and wrong), the Day when the two forces met (the battle of Badr) – And Allah is Able to do all things.” 8: 41
`Ali bin Abi Talhah and Al-`Awfi reported that Ibn ‘Abbas said, “Badr is YawmAl-Furqan; during it, Allah separated between truth and falsehood.”
“Aforetime, as a guidance to mankind, And He sent down the criterion [of judgement between right and wrong (this Qur’an)]. Truly, those who disbelieve in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah, for them there is a severe torment; and Allah is All-Mighty, All-Able of Retribution.” 3: 4
“The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong)…”
EXAMPLES OF SOME ACTS OF COMMON FALSEHOOD/INNOVATIONS
So many activities are committed by people, we must address this.
Firstly, the Qur’an has been mentioned as Al Furqan – when you recite, understand and ponder over the verses, inshaAllah you will act upon them.
“This is the Book (the Qur’an), whereof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who are Al-Muttaqun” Surah al Baqarah 2: 2
“…Say: “It is for those who believe, a guide and a healing…” Surah Fussilat 41: 44
“(This is) a Book (the Qur’an) which We have sent down to you, full of blessings that they may ponder over its Verses, and that men of understanding may remember.” Surah Saad 38: 29
“Verily, this Qur’an guides to that which is most just and right…” Surah al Isra 17: 9
And if you have TAQWA to Allah, you will obey Allah and His Messenger:
O you who believe! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger (Muhammad ), and those of you (Muslims) who are in authority. (And) if you differ in anything amongst yourselves, refer it to Allah and His Messenger (), if you believe in Allah and in the Last Day. That is better and more suitable for final determination. 4: 59
In acts of Innovation, Allah Warned us, especially when acts of innovation leads to shirk:
Verily! Allah forgives not (the sin of) setting up partners in worship with Him, but He forgives whom he pleases sins other than that, and whoever sets up partners in worship with Allah, has indeed strayed far away. 4: 116
Allah Completed the Deen
“This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion…” 5: 3
And Guidance only comes from Allah
We said: “Get down all of you from this place (the Paradise), then whenever there comes to you Guidance from Me, and whoever follows My Guidance, there shall be no fear on them, nor shall they grieve. 2: 38
Allah also Advised us to enter into Islam perfectly
“O you who believe! Enter perfectly in Islam (by obeying all the rules and regulations of the Islamic religion) and follow not the footsteps of Shaitan (Satan). Verily! He is to you a plain enemy.” 2: 208
Always remember the consequences of innovations:
